Here’s a rather clever thing – it’s an interactive panoramic video produced for the brilliant Sam Sallon. Click and drag the movie around and watch it from a viewpoint of your choice! Keep Moving is one of the songs from Sam’s debut Album “One For the Road,” which is due for release in April 2012
Stop Internets are fully behind the Captain Ska’s bid to become the Christmas number one. YouTube sensation “Liar, Liar”, the catchy anti-cuts song to be released on December 12th – please find a few pence to purchase this track and let the ConDems know how you feel.
Already a viral hit, passed on by thousands wanting to show their opposition to the new government’s spending cuts, “Liar Liar” will go into a head to head fight with X-factor winner for the number one slot this Christmas.
All proceeds from the sale of “Liar Liar” will go to charities helping victims of the cuts and a new campaign website False Economy (www.falseeconomy.org.uk) that will both gather information from around the country on the effects of the cuts and link up the numerous local anti-cuts campaigns that have already been set up.
A launch event for the single and the web-site will take place at “Captain SKA v the cuts” on Monday Dec 13th at London’s Vibe Bar. Captain SKA and his crew will play a full set and will be joined by the foot stomping Hackney Colliery Band and DJ Jamie Renton (Chilli-Fried) Tickets are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/100780search
Captain SKA said:
“I’ve never much been into politics before, but the spending cuts are going to really hit millions of people who did nothing to cause this recession. And ska can be the soundtrack for the campaign, just as two-tone was one of the few good things to come from the 1980s – the last time we had a government that did so much to rip the country apart.”
The charities and campaigns that will benefit from downloads of “Liar, Liar” between 12/12/10 to 01/02/11 will be:
Crisis (23p from each sale) www.crisis.org.uk
Crisis is dedicated to homelessness by delivering life changing services. As the cuts bite the need for their services will become ever greater.
Disability Alliance (23p from each sale) http://www.disabilityalliance.org/
Disability Alliance aims to break the link between disability and poverty. A third of disabled people in the UK live in poverty. The Government aims to cut over £3 billion from disability benefits – which risks further disadvantaging and impoverishing hundreds of thousands of disabled people and their families – with some of our most disadvantaged disabled citizens cut adrift from the entire welfare state.
False Economy (16.5 p from each sale) www.falseeconomy.org.uk
False Economy is a new campaign website for everyone concerned about the impact of the government’s spending cuts on their community, their family or their job. False Economy’s supporters, which include the TUC, local campaign groups and on-line activists, want to build the broadest possible movement that can get the government to change direction. It is not a charity.
Women’s Health Matters (16.5 p from each sale) http://www.womenshealthmatters.org.uk/
Women’s Health Matters are a women’s charity working with some of the most excluded women, living on the edges of society. The impact of the cuts has already had a impact on their ability to deliver services.
